The old full-random terrain generation, full-random mob generation are also something that was incredibly fun. Old hotbar allowed you to get a grappling hook, bandages, shield, weapons for different situations, and let you quickly left/right hand a equipment to fight that particularly random-generated foe. The new story isn't the worst, but the Protectorate is a terrible way to retcon almost the entire USCM and basically the worst part of any version of the Starbound lore, save for the fact that it looks pretty. The two things I believe Koala excelled in, however, is progression and story. The old versions have Intellectual Property belonging to awesome people who were fired because they were too awesome for CF, so the old content can no longer be legally distributed by CF, and on here, nobody's allowed to distribute that content. It used to be on steam depos but I can't find the steam depo ids to download it via steam console.ДЄnyone know a way I can get the old versions? Maybe the developers would like to give out a copy of the older version I actually paid for. This was the version where the lore started getting babyfied, game mechanics ripped out in bulk, and the game made into a single exact experience with 0 replayability. This was, as many others would agree with me, the last good version of starbound, before a huge portion of the backers quit the game.
